Pater: Pater's Day

Posted by Pater , Sunday, June 15, 2014 6:22 PM

In most countries, Pater's Day is celebrated on the 3rd Sunday of June, largely because Maters got a special day and it only seemed right for us men to get one too.  Pater's going to go a bit nerdish now, but, my Avocado Juniors, did you know that prior to China becoming the People's Republic, Pater's Day was celebrated on August 8th.  Why, you may ask (or not and just roll your eyes)?  Because the 8th (ba in Mandarin) day of the 8th (ba) month makes two eights, or ba-ba which sounds similar to the colloquial word for "daddy" - ba-ba.  I know, fascinating.
Anyway, regardless of when it's celebrated and as corny as it sounds, with his three beautiful Avocado Juniors, Pater feels that every day is Pater Day...
...not that Pater won't accept a lie-in, breakfast in bed, a break from Sunday parental duties and all & any accompanying gifts on the official Pater's Day...
