Mater: Lights, camera, bubbles!

What a relief December arrived!  AJ2 and Pater's never ending November-filled birthday celebrations and gifts finally ended.  Mater is exhausted. After a month of 4 and 40, Mater has aged to 400 and is looking forward to a nice and quiet month, with no parties or presents... Noooooooooooooooo, not Chanukah!!! DAMN YOU ADAM SANDLER!

The Maccabees rebelled against Antiochus Epiphanes over two thousand years ago, overthrowing a tyrannical ruler who prevented the Jews of Ancient Israel from worshipping God according to the Torah.  Somehow that, and them subsequently finding a bottle of sacred oil that burned for eight crazy nights despite only being enough for one day's lighting, translated two millennium later into doughnuts, parties and pressies.  Lots of them.  Not to mention ugly sweaters and that most traditional of Chanukah past times - bubbles...
Alright, maybe Mater is being a little too much like the Grinch Who Stole Chanukah (sorry Dr Seuss).  It was really great lighting candles together (though sad that Grandma Toronto had to miss the festivities)...

...attend AJ1 and AJ2's Chanukah concerts...
...and light up the darkness of winter with candle making, Chanukah house building, dreidel spinning and our friends...
Happy Chanukah, Avocado Jnrs, from Mater and Pater!!!
