Pater: A wedding of firsts

Posted by Pater , Sunday, June 18, 2017 4:19 AM

Avocado Juniors, a wedding is such an exciting, happy, emotional and wonderful day, particularly when it's a wedding of firsts, like your Cousin Toronto's big day:  Mater's oldest niece is the first of the next generation of children to get wed; this is the first time you are attending a wedding; and the first time you are getting to march down the aisle!!!

So yes, a very happy day.  But also a very emotional one!  AJ1, have you noticed recently how Mater has taken to hugging you more, and for longer, than usual?  Do you think it may have something to do with her struggling to reconcile her memories of the little girl she saw grow up, with the young lady about to be wed?  Suffice to say, this is the reason Pater is penning this post - he can't risk Mater short circuiting the keyboard as she views the photos and the tears come streaming down!!!
Thankfully, on the day itself a severe dose of beta blockers prevented Mater's mascara from running, and so our only concern was if, the promise of Lego (for AJ2) and a life living with the local raccoon family (for AJ3), would last through family photos...
...and then the march itself (sorry AJ4 that you got benched; we had to focus all our energies on AJ3 not going rogue)...
Thankfully the answer to both was yes, and so with your jobs done (and the Lego Promise/Raccoon Threat still hovering over AJ2&3), we could enjoy the best wedding ever!
Mazel tov to the new Mr and Mrs Cousin Toronto from the Avocado Hasses!!!!

Mater: Happy Birthday AJ4!!!!

AJ4, Mater is in a deep quandary as she writes this post.  It's late, you're asleep and my concentration should be on your first birthday...

But instead Mater just wants to wake you up, squeeze you until you squeal, and then eat you up!!! However, Pater informs me that this is illegal.  Really?  And since when was he a lawyer?  Does Mater claim a deep knowledge of banking?  As her credit cards will prove, absolutely not.  So leave law, and long Latin phrases that no one understands, to the LLB in the family.  So, Your (imaginary) Honor, here is my argument for allowing the aforementioned biting of AJ4 (cheeks first, top or bottom)...
Ok, ok, fine.  Apparently a picture does not paint a thousand words in this court of law.  Then let me take you back, way way back, to last year where the evidence will clearly demonstrate legal precedences of ego licebat ei edere ("I'm allowed to eat him")...
Is it fair, Your Honor, to deny a Mater her God given right to just keep pinching those cheeks, which have got chubbier...
...and yummier...
...and just darn cuter and cuter as the year progressed???
...and that was before he even sat up...
...got his first teeth...
...or stood up...
No, Your Honor, despite Pater's claims, Mater is not clinically insane.  In fact, a Yale University study a few years ago termed this desire to just smoosh AJ4's adorable little face as Cute Aggression - the happier we get, the more we try to counterbalance the emotion with a negative reaction, like tears of joy or nervous laughter.  And when you throw into the mix, unadulterated pride at AJ4's ability to walk before his first birthday (the first of our Avocado Juniors to do so!), then I think even Your Honor will want to do some cheek tweaking!
Oh to heck with this blogpost AJ4, Mater's coming to wake you up right now and smoother you with kisses...
Hi AJ4, Pater here.  Sorry about the weird, Love You Foreveresque feel to your birthday blog.  It looks like it's up to Pater to congratulate you on your first 12 months...
...hope you enjoyed your first birthday parties...
...and wish you Happy Birthday from Mater and Pater.  We love you very much!!!
