Pater: A whirlwind in England

Dear Mater

After a whirlwind three day tour, AJ3 and I are on our way home from Blighty!  While our bundle of joy is sleeping, Pater thought he'd take the chance to write and tell you everything that happened.

If you recall, you were less than pleased with Pater's original suggestion that we should fly to England to visit Grandma and Grandpa London and attend Pater's friend's wedding.  Was it separation anxiety? Mistrust of Pater's parenting capability?  Or just fear that AJ3 would come back with bad teeth?  Either way, getting him out of your arms at the airport was not an easy task...
But thankfully, Pater managed to prise AJ3 out of your untrusting arms, positioned him for a quick strategic photo...
...and then we were off..
...or rather nodding off...
Staying at Grandma London is always amazing (as AJ2 will remember)...
....and AJ3 quickly found that having cupboard loads of toys back home may be great, but nothing beats a good old bowl and spoon for hours of fun...
Before you ask, yes, the three suitcases of t-shirts, sleepers, trousers, shirts, sweaters and shoes were all utilised.  Promise.
We had just enough time to say "jet lag" and then it was off to see Grandpa London.  Grandfather and grandson quickly saw eye to eye on each visit during our trip...
AJ3 loved spending time with his grandparents but he knew the fun didn't end there.  A quick bath, some cologne and a snazzy bow tie, and he was ready for his first wedding (NB please pack glue or nails next time to keep those bloody shoes on)...
...though AJ3 was a little disheartened to discover a total lack of 1 year old girls for him to show off his bow tie and Canadian accent to...
As quickly as we arrived, we had to leave (to your relief no doubt).  With no broken bones, mismatched outfits or catastrophic disasters of any kind, we made it back to Heathrow and onto the plane home...
...not that AJ3 remembers much of the journey...
Travelling is always fun, but I think AJ3 will agree that coming home is always better...

Love Pater

Pater: Så mange tak, Ole Kirk Christiansen!

Posted by Pater , Monday, March 9, 2015 12:33 AM

Pater and Mater would like to give a shout out to Ole Kirk Christiansen, a Danish genius who has made our life so much, well, quieter. In 1949, this wonderful man and his company decided that children should "play well", or leg godt in Danish, by sticking colourful bricks together.  Pater and Uncle Tel Aviv spent many years as young avocados playing well and now, with thanks to Ole, so too do you, AJ1 and AJ2 (and AJ3, under eagle-eye of Mater until you stop putting everything in your mouth).

Like millions of children throughout the world, all of you Avocado Jnrs have discovered the sheer joy of playing well at home, in a store, or even while watching a movie.  Truly, everything is awesome!  And unlike most toys out there, you've quickly realised that Lego (leg godt=Lego for those who didn't make the link) can be enjoyed together...

...or alone...
All of this is reason enough for Pater to be effusive in his praise of Mr Christiansen.  But there's more.  Okay, Pater will say it, LEGO IS OUR SAVIOUR.  It has got us through scary first haircuts...
...and provided inspiration when the well of costume ideas has dried up...
mange tak, Ole Kirk Christiansen, fra Avocado Juniors. Du er et liv pauseskærm!
