Mater: All things December (part 1)

Mater and Pater love December. Between the Chanukah and Christmas spirit, long cosy nights in, spending time with family, a non-threatening smattering of snow and just completing another year, there is something warm and fuzzy about this month (which your nerdy Pater says was actually the tenth month of the year until 713 BC).

So Mater was beginning to feel a little guilty about suggesting an early trip to Florida this year.  Was escaping South a mistake, if it meant you both missing out on all the winter fun of Toronto? And then the 2013 North American Ice Storm entered Toronto on December 20th. 300,000 homes had no electricity or heat.  Including ours.  So this...
...became this...
...and the decision to spending the last week of December in a warmer climate suddenly turned from mistake to prophetic (or at least Ebenezer Pater thought so and who was Mater to contradict him).  But our flight wasn't until Christmas Eve and with no heat or power from the 20th, we decamped to a hotel temporarily.  Not that either of you two Avocado Juniors noticed...
Finally it was time to leave.  And an hour before our flight, electricity returned so maaayyyybeeee we didn't need to go.  But let's just leave that as a secret between Mater and you two.  Pater doesn't need to know...
